On the 6th ultimo the Consul received a letter from Mr. Otorrel of the Prince Albert covering a communication from the Canton Consulate and informing him that in accordance with an arrangement entered into between Her Majesty's Consul and the Superintendent of Customs, he was at liberty to redeem Sir Rutherford Alcock, K.C.B., Her Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary.
