Sir,

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of Inspector Comins' application for leave of absence for six weeks.

At the time this application was made Mr Comins was in hopes of obtaining a free passage for himself and wife to Japan or some of the Northern ports of China; this he now finds he cannot procure.
