Long service in the Police force and the apparent impossibility of his restoration to health unless such indulgence be granted, he has, subject to his Grace's approval, allowed him a gratuity of $150 for the purpose of proceeding to Japan.
In consideration of the high testimony which the Governor bears to Inspector Cronin's character for integrity and on the understanding that it is granted him as a reward for his good conduct, and that it is not to be considered as forming a precedent in future cases of a similar nature, his Excellency has approved of the grant of this gratuity.
