officer then Administering this Government - Colonel Lovell in his communications on this subject, proposes no new plan for the extension of the Cantonments into the Swatow, but merely recalls attention to Colonel Hor's project. It was therefore considered unnecessary to forward copies of his letters. The Major General is quite willing to meet
The Governor's
wishes in these matters, and instructions shall be given to the Commanding Royal Engineer to
communicate with the Surveyor General with a view to Colonel Lowell's Reports and Plans being shown to that officer.
