It would nevertheless be seen from Colonel Lovell's letter of the 18th December last, transmitted in Captain Hartmann's communication to me of the 19th December, that Colonel Lovell had written to his department through the Major General in December 1855, recalling attention of the War Department to the project on finding there was a chance of purchasing Fletcher's Lots.
