required.

This valve which measures 2½" x 2½" was intended to replace the one in the existing Dam which was out of order.

I have lately, with the use of the Mint Machinery, been enabled to get this valve thoroughly repaired and it consequently need not now be replaced.

The second Sluice Valve ordered by my requisition of 25th August last is opening 2 ft square.

I apprehend Mr Rawlinson cannot refer to this one being of extraordinarily large dimensions, it can however be made of any approved form.

I enclose a Tracing showing the class of Valve which I presumed would be sent out.

The Valve is intended to be placed in the bottom of the Valve Well for use in case of emergency, its position is shown on the Plans sent to England in August last.

In the event of the construction of the Midfeather being decided on, this Valve will not be required.

This is a question which will probably be decided by Mr Rawlinson on his receiving my report of 30th ultimo.

The third valve included in the requisition was for the Culvert under the Bye Wash, the size of which was intended to be 6ft x 4 ft. The proposed position of this Culvert is shown on the plans.
