I have the honor to report that I have communicated with Governor Ord, as directed, and that I learn with much regret the death of Mot boomey, the Master of the "Buonaventura" which belonged to the port of Singapore.

The question therefore of adequately noticing Mot boomey's gallant defence of his vessel has thus received a melancholy and untimely solution.

I enclose a copy of Colonel Ord's communication.

I have the honor to be,
May it Please Your Grace,
Your Grace's Most Obedient,
humble Servant,
M. Macpherson,
Governor.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's letter No. 157 of the 29th March, requesting to be supplied with any information which would enable you to trace either the British Barque "Buonaventura" said to have been sold at Singapore, or Mot boomey her Master, and I have the honor to acquaint Your Excellency.
