of the Nine-pins, and a bearing of it would lead safely through the Gathong channel, and up to the Syemoon pass. In thick weather when it would be unsafe to attempt the Syemoon, Agemoon, it would afford a convenient aid for vessels to lie-to in safety.

The light might be coloured, a red colour in the direction of Gathong rock.

Cowhow light.

I would propose placing a flashing light, visible 12 miles, on the island of Cowechow. This island affords an excellent position for a light which would conduct us through both Suma channels and into Hong Kong roads. No other position would answer that purpose.

Note. I recommend the light on Waglan being revolving, that on Cowechow flashing, to readily distinguish them from the bright lights of the fishing boats.
