Salaries.
Looking to the climate and the locality of the Colony in respect to its
distance from any healthier British
Possession, I consider
that some relaxation of the existing Rules may with propriety be conceded. Instead,
therefore,
of the annual
six weeks vacation
at present allowed;
I have to authorize you
to grant
to the Civil Servants leave of absence on full Salary for a period of
four months in every
second year, or, should
you consider it a
preferable arrangement
in particular instances,
as where so
long
an
interruption at
various
times in the regular
execution of the duties
of
an
Office would
be attended with inconvenience,
