Genval could not be expected to be in the Colony, the preceding Section had directed that the information, that is the formal information, "person" That purpose shared be signed by nominated and appointed for by the Governor. That I was nominated and appointed was manifest from the Colonial Secretary's letter and that I had rightly signed the informations, any "for the Attorney General)" equally clear. A great deal was said, for the matter occupied considerable time, which I am unable to remember but upon being asked what cause the Prosecution intended to adopt, I applied to the Chief Justice to direct his officer to read the information to the Prisoner at the Bar and to call upon him to plead to it. This the Chief Justice declined to do and adjourned the Court until Saturday next.

The Chief Justice caused the question to be delivered to me, which accompanies this. I also append to this communication the letter of the Colonial Secretary.

Dated,
(Signed.) Henry John Ball

(Area Copy)
