The Harbor Master further informes me that she has been consigned to Chinese Merchants here, who have since left Hong Kong.
The Mate also accepted berth in an American vessel, as I understand. Consequently, there has been such a dispersion of all the actors concerned as must render it difficult to obtain the further evidence required by the Board of Trade, and I may add would even render it difficult to transmit to the Master of the "Dronaventure" any favorable notice of his conduct by the Board of Trade.
I shall however by next Mail communicate with the Government of Singapore with a view to obtaining further information as to the movements of the "Dronaventura" and the Master.
Meantime, I think it would be desirable that the Board of Trade, which is not in such matters bound to exact evidence legally complete, if otherwise satisfied as to the facts, should accept the evidence of the Masters.
