Thus I find in my own despatch of August last delusions. It was a mistake to suppose that although the Machinery, with coinage for the Straits Settlements or any other place, was a sure source of unquestionable profit. It was a natural and pardonable delusion to have formerly thought so. Having built a manufactory it seemed only requisite for ensuring a profit to be offered employment unless the whole undertaking was a blunder.
