Mr Julyan says in his letter that after defraying all known liabilities except the Treasury loan - the Colony would have to its credit about 42,353 at the end of last year. Since then £7,032 have been remitted from here and payments to the extent of nearly £4000 directed.
That Balance at present, exclusive of the March Quarter's expenditure would be about £5,000.
Estimating that Quarter's expenditure at £2000 exclusive of Military Contribution, the Crown Agents ought to receive £4,000 more in order to pay off the loan.
The Crown Agent's statement of the Hongkong account on 1st December apparently includes all the payments required for the 2nd supply of bronze coin, of the shipment of which has yet been received.
