TO KE

On the 17th January last a fearful explosion of Gunpowder took place in the Harbour- considerable damage was done to property generally, the chief loss being in window glass, or less than some 30,000 panes having been broken. Both the Victoria Gaol and the Civil Hospital were shaken, and some old cracks have opened out considerably, there is however no immediate danger, and nothing can be done but to watch the Building Carefully.

The number of panes of glass estimated to be broken in Government Buildings alone is 2000, and for the repair of these the present estimate is sent.
