Due to their being no sheet lead suitable for the guttering in the Colony, the lead has now arrived, and the repairs are in hand. At the Supreme Court the white ants are found to have got extensively into the wood work of the roof, so much so as to make the entire removal of one of the trusses necessary. The cracks which have shown themselves for some time past in the walls, have opened out somewhat more in places during the past year, it is more than probable that this building will have to be rebuilt before very long. Several alterations are made to the rooms occupied by the Registrar General with a view to accommodating the public in the carrying out of the new Registration Ordinance. The other repairs to buildings are the ordinary ones of painting and washing.
The Vote of Council for this service is $7,000.
