Schedule A. includes the ordinary Annual expenditure for maintenance, only which pertains to the service.
The work for improvements, ventilation to Victoria gaol, is however already on its way from England, and the transfer of the Convicts from Stanley to Victoria gaol makes the proposed alterations to the ventilation imperative before the hot season sets in.
The sum voted for the Public Gardens, $5,000, includes the fountain which has already been ordered from England. It is probable that the whole of this amount need not be expended during the current year.
Report and Estimate No. 9 of 1867 provides for improvements to Quarry Bay Road; the improvements would more properly be called repairs, as is explained in the detailed report.
Schedule B consists of payments for services completed or on the point of completion, on account of which expenditure becomes necessary during the early part of the current year.
