If your Lordship will observe those L. Murray adduces the highest medical testimony attainable here, that of the Principal Military and Naval Medical officers as to the propriety of the treatment followed by him, whilst it is to be noted that so far from thinking he had anything to conceal, he himself applied for an inquest on the body of the deceased.

I may add that I see no practical utility in investigating anew the details connected with the subject; because whilst the arrangements affecting future action in similar cases are really the most important consideration, there is no doubt as to the main facts of the case, and I think as little doubt as to the gross exaggeration of the statement made by the Master of the Weston Chief, if the testimony of the Government Medical Officers is worthy of credence.

The Master evidently induced his crew to protest against the admission of a sick person, and unfair treatment, of which that crew themselves might stand in need of future proof. Moreover, I regard his claim for damages caused by his delay in complying with the legal requisition of the local Authorities as clearly inadmissible, because this Government did nothing to detain his vessel or refuse his request.
