9 Majors, 9 Captains, 18 Subalterns, and a proportionate number of non-commissioned Officers, although its duties would be more simple, less harassing, and more

concentrated, whilst the

men would not

be exposed to the extraordinary temptations

of the Police here.

Anticipating Your Lordship's

support of the above views I have

therefore already caused £800 to be remitted

to the Punjab Government to defray the

expenses of Mr Cragh and the 100 men to Calcutta, and I

may

add that these

expenses are all included in the Estimates

for 1869.
