In reply to your Letter of the 30th ult. on the subject of a salute fired by the Garrison on the Anniversary of Hong Kong ... of Washington's Birth, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for the information of Mr. Cardwell, that the Marquis of Salisbury has expressed his concurrence in the view taken of this question by the Lords Commissioners.
