Troops stationed in Hong Kong

exigency that may arise
in any fortification
which may be demanded

be required for the defence of the Colony.
This payment of
£50,000
for Military
Defence is for the cost of the troops stationed there.
The amount to be incurred shall not exceed that sum.
Otherwise the Colony could pay for the actual
cost of the troops as
estimated by the War
Office.
5. That the two batteries
shall be withdrawn except under
peculiar circumstances,
and the arrangement
shall be subject
to reconsideration after
