In reply I am to acquaint you that, looking to the valuable service, as well Imperial as Colonial, which these vessels are calculated to render, Lord de Grey acquiesces in the proposal of Mr Cardwell, that half the expense of maintaining them, not exceeding $10,000, should be deducted from the present Military contribution of $20,000.
