I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit to you, herewith, for the information of the Earl of Carnarvon, with reference to your letters of the 14th July & 6 August last, and their earlier replies from this Board thereto of the 23rd July & 8th August, relating to the supply of Funds to the Crown Agent's account for the service of Hong Kong, copy of a letter which I have received from the Officer in Charge of the Treasury Chest in China on the subject.
