to Mr Cardwell's request which
led to this double issue of Salary.
I am, at the same time, to transmit an extract from Statement of certain items of expenditure for which credit is
Claimed by
The account above mentioned, and which are in excess
of the Hong Kong Colonial Estimate for 1864, or are of
a special nature: this extract
relates to the payment of
$18.15.0 to the 1st Class Chinese Interpreter in the Police Magistrate's Office for
services rendered to the Civil Service, from 1st April to
8th September at $15 a month.
This payment does not appear to have been provided for, as stated in the Extract in
GR5329/65
the supplementary Estimate for 1864, which was transmitted to this Department
by
The Colonial Office letter of
8th June 1865. I am, therefore, to request that my
Lords
may be informed whether it has received the sanction of the Secretary of
State.
I am,
Your obedient Servant,
H. Fowler Jones Allemann
