With reference to your letter of the 9th instant, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary (Cardwell), that my Lords will not object to the appointment of an Interpreter (who is also to undertake the duties of Comprador and Shroff) to the Hong Kong Mint Establishment at a salary of nine hundred dollars per annum ($900) (£187. 10s.).

My Lords also approve of the Appointment of a Messenger at $240 per annum.
