of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of
your letter of the 18th ulto. and to
copy of a despatch from the Acting Governor of Hong Kong relative to the levying of dues for the Light Vessel at Little Basses Channel and in reply
to request that you will move Mr Secretary Cardwell to cause
the Acting Governor to be informed that the Board are of opinion,
whilst reserving to the Colony
the right to demand the amount that would have been paid by Ships - had the dues been collected, that it is not necessary at present to levy the dues in question at Hong Kong. But that they
