I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th ult.
The terms of the appointment should be the same as Cambridge University case of the late Ordinance Officer of the Mint - Viz Salary of £225 increasing by £22.10.0 per annum to a maximum of £537.10.0 with a claim to a pension of half salary from the date of Entitlement, and free passage out, & ten, quarters, a free passage home for himself and family before the Expiration of 10 years.
Ils, transmitting by direction of the Earl Carnarvon, for my observations which I may have to offer, a copy of a Despatch from Sir R. G. MacDonnell (No. 57, 9th June 1866) enclosing copy of a letter from Mr. Kinder as to the weight of the Hong Kong Dollar.
It appears that a weight has been adopted for the Hong Kong Dollar of issue, slightly different from the weight which was drawn up and sanctioned by the Home Government. In the fineness of the silver no difference occurs.
It is unnecessary to repeat that the higher value suggested here was what has been the legal standard of the Mexican Dollar both under the Republic
