UK reciperently brienty Segued, by which the Stand Sugers Gray be admitted free. There are, however, some difficulties of the United States in the Idea Gffecting this, & thus the dealer - for the prevent Jaking all these circumstances together it seems difficult to avoid perceiving what must be their tendency & that a very probable Result - May be that in a comparatively short period of the Colony's history, the Islands will drop into the lap of the U.S.

I take the liberty of referring to my despatch No. 1 of Feb. 20 last for some details on the Commerce of this Colony as connected with the Julzeat, as well as some of the means which Surely sufficient ought to be taken in developing the Commerce with this group & of possible preventing the threatened Supremacy of American Commerce in this prosperous portion of the globe.

I have no published Statistics here, but I have reason for knowing that the Imports into this Colony from Victoria, Vancouver's Island during the last 10 months of this year, have been considerably larger in amount than the whole imports from there in 1865, as stated in my despatch to date No. 21.
