As the local Authorities
appear to have contemplated these works on commencing

to instant, I have forwarded M. Rawlinson's report in original to the Colonial Secretary by this Mail, and have now to apply for Lord Carnarvon's authority,
to purchase and send Hong Kong the articles enumerated in the Surveyor's General's requisition of the 25 August last, enclosed, letter to the Crown Agents
of the 29th ultimo.
