Sir,
RECEN OCT 16 1866
Crown Agents for the Colonies, Spring Gardens, London, S.W.
13 October 1866
In reply to your letter of the 8th instant I have the honor to inform you, for the information of the Earl of Carnarvon, that the subsidiary coinage for Hong Kong was not ordered through this Department, but on Enquiry at the Royal Mint it would appear that directions were given to the Master in your letter of the 15th June 1865 to coin at once for the Government of Hong Kong Silver-cent pieces to the value of $30,000 and Bronze-cents and mils to the value of $60,000 to be followed by another similar quantity.
