On the 8th Instant the Crown
Agents for the Colonies telegraphed via Galle to the Governor that the suspension of the Agra
& Masterman's
Bank would render immediate remittances necessary.
A copy
of the telegram is herewith enclosed.
Before that event occurred
it was found necessary, in order to
meet your more pressing
liabilities to discount the Bill for £10,000
drawn by the Hong Kong on the London Branch of that Bank
