The Mint, Birmingham.
20 April 1866.
Gentlemen,
We are coining 4,000 lbs. of Bronze Coins for Hong Kong, ordered by the Royal Mint for which we have sent in Ch.42 to be paid monthly, viz.:
February Statement £86s. 5d. and March £1378 to the Mint and marked for payment to be made in the usual way and credit with the London & Westminster Bank.
As this not being done by paying the amount to the Bank & Co., we wrote to them to be prepared to pay the amount on application last Friday when we were informed that they should receive payment from your Department. We were told they simply passed the account, which they then sent to the Statements Branch.
We shall esteem it a favour if you will cause the above described amount to be paid on application. We are not aware of any difficulty in paying the amount each month.
We will make personal application at an early day and shall be glad to receive payment at once.
Yours faithfully,
Ralph Heaton & Sons
To the Crown Agents.
