With reference to the special report on Piracy dated 24th Inst., I have the honour to report that having embarked the Informant I proceeded in the steamer on the 25th Inst. in search of the others still detained by the pirates.
Anchored in the evening at the entrance of Deep Bay and on the following morning at daylight proceeded as far up the bay as the depth of water would allow and then continued in the boats after pulling about 5 miles discovered a pirate junk aground, it being a large trader. The Crew of which on our appearance deserted her & fled over an extensive soft mud flat; on boarding the junk I found two of the crew under hatches who deposed that they were taken out of a junk 4 days ago by the pirates.
