Notice & Rewards
In order to ensure the tranquillity of the district. Be it known that whosoever of the Chinese shall catch a thief shall be rewarded according to this notice; only police, whether foreign or Chinese, are not included in it, it being their office and duty to catch thieves.
I. In the case of violent robbers, daring with weapons to enter any chop or house in our Street to plunder, all outside persons who come to the rescue, and on the spot seize, even one of the robbers shall be rewarded;
