intended alteration of boundaries likely to affect the right of the Colonial Government to open the passage contemplated through Fletcher's lot to the sea.

His Excellency nevertheless sees no Public advantage in further discussing these details at present, especially as it is not his intention to allow any but Government officials and members of the Macht club to use the intended wharf and passage till receipt of the decision of the Secretary of State on the whole question.

He may make an arrangement which he trusts will meet the General's views and obviate any inconvenience otherwise possible.

I am further desired to state that far from wishing to throw any impediment in the way of the completion of any plan considered by the authorities desirable for Imperial interests, it will be His Excellency's special object to further those plans.

As, however, he is still without information altogether as to the nature of the proposed extension of the boundaries, His Excellency can form no opinion on that question, and shall leave its solution entirely in the hands of those ultimately responsible for deciding points involving Imperial and Colonial interests.
