These notes I showed to His Excellency, who probably has forgotten. An intimation to this effect was entirely accidental, and no doubt unexpected, if any actual plan were afterwards matured for transmission home, that this Government would be duly acquainted with it.
No information regarding the ground now occupied by the Naval and Military Authorities has yet been received officially by my Department.
Further notes were addressed to me by Colonel Lovell in August last, which I enclose in original. They state merely that some earth which I had applied for, and which was lying on ground close to the Government Wharf, was required by the Military.
