Chinese Children might be sent.

2.

Several have in this way been provided for whom the Magistrates would otherwise have found it difficult to deal, and recently the enclosed letter was received from Mr Whyte, Police Magistrate, on which an arrangement was entered into with Father Raimondi which I have approved, and which is detailed in the accompanying letter from the Reverend Gentleman.

The lads sent from the Police Court will be received on a charge to Government of two dollars per head per month, and the balance of expense will be found by Father Raimondi.

4.

This is the best arrangement that can be made under the circumstances, and I have to request Your Lordship's approval of it.

I have the honor to be, Your Lordship's, Most obedient Servant,

Richard Graves MacDonnell

Governor.
