Accounts, for a period of
12 months, the Post Master
General being Acting Auditor General
and consequently
could not audit his own
Accounts.

Auditor General and I were appointed to investigate and
report

Collector, and we received
the thanks of the Government
in Colonial Secretary's No 884 of 25th September, 1860.

In the month of October, 1861, I was appointed Acting Assistant Magistrate, Sheriff and Coroner. On the 6th July, 1862, a change was made in the Magistracy,
on the appointment of a judge of Summary Jurisdiction and the abolition of the office
of Chief Magistrate of Police; I was then appointed Acting Second Police Magistrate, and continued to act as Sheriff.
