expenses for their Managers although the gentleman are paid much higher salaries than the Heads of Departments in the Public service, receive, and Alerts since the rules was made to charge rents for the Quarters in the Post Office, the Colonial regulation in this respect; has been deviated from in the case of the Officers of the Mint; and, of some other offices it; has not been applied, and therefore I hope that considering the extra duty performed by the Officers resident here, and the advantages gained by the Public, in consequence of that the exaction may be removed.
