Mr Mitchell's enforced residence at the Post Office, and payment of $25 per month be maintained, and that all amounts hitherto paid by him in excess of that amount since transfer to the Post office in 1865 be refunded to him... it being clearly intended that all accommodation in his present Quarters consisting of three Rooms and usual domestic appurtenances thereto is to be regarded as available for Public purposes whenever business requires it.

Mr Mitchell is an active Officer, very useful and ready, and whose services are available to the Government for many Commissions of Inquiry, all discharged gratuitously, anxious to remove any reasonable ground he may have for dissatisfaction, and shall therefore learn with much pleasure that Your Lordship can ratify the arrangement which I suggest.

I have the honour to be

Your Lordship's

Most obedient servant,

The Governor.
