Public Licensed Privies under strict regulations are distributed about the District and there have no communication with the drains, the night soil being removed daily in Buckets. This arrangement renders the use of Stench traps unnecessary. The occasional very heavy falls of rain which are experienced here would with the steep Gradients in Taipingshan, make any description of drain very hazardous.
The house drains will be laid by the Tenants, the Connections with the main drains being made by the Government, it is proposed to make use of 8' earthen pipes for this purpose. The drainage will have to be considerably increased to the drains by means of pipe holes.
