It will be seen what the Governor is to appoint the Superintending Official connected with this Service; that the Commanders of vessels are to engage the subordinate officers and Crews; that all persons on engagement are to sign Articles and take an Oath in a prescribed Form; that they are subject to the ordinary jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace; but that Commanders may punish summarily to the extent of three days imprisonment or the forfeiture of not more than six days' pay and the stoppage of the Offender's indulgences.
And are to enjoy all the powers of a British Merchant Ship. That the foregoing provisions apply in time of peace.
