It is initiated that the machinery &c. is undrilled. And the cause it is understated that the success of the undertaking depends on the popularity of the coinage and that this popularity cannot be established in limine.

As the opening of the Mint will shortly take place it becomes of importance to consider whether the existing arrangements will supply a sufficiency of bullion to keep the establishment in readiness.

The Public will judge of the Mint in the first instance if it can be shown that the bullion when converted into British Dollars proffers a greater purchasing power than it has in the old forms.

We have in Hongkong silver in the shape of Mexican Dollars, bar silver and Sycee.
