I have the hour to acknowledge receipt of your communication of this day's date in relation to the payment of the sums due for Police and Lighting Rates & in respect of which Warrants were granted.
I am in hopes, so far as persons personally concerned I am sure, that unnecessary delay has existed in the Department over which I have the honor to preside; accept, however, under the circumstances, my assurance that nothing shall be wanting upon my part to expedite the matter, so far as the future is concerned, and, with that object, I will forward to the Honorable F. Forth, Clerk.
