Canton, July 9th 1866
The Acting Viceroy has received the honorable despaliti of the 6th instant,
bunging to his notice a report by Commander
St. John R. H., forwarded by the Senio
M. Naval Officer of Honghong, to the effect
that on
visiting the islands of Pakishin and Namshui, which were to be garrisoned
and
fortifies after their recent capture, he had found them reoccupied by then puratical inhabitants with nit a trace of Militar occupation a of refsels of war.
