We do not feel disposed to lie quietly under the calumnious accusation, so unjustly made against us by the Postmaster General, on hearsay merely, and which he did not prove in Court - and we could have refuted by most respectable testimony, had time been permitted, besides our personal position in business and as Land Owners regularly paying Crown Rents, bearing unimpeachable Characters, in this Community, might have stood as guarantee to the Government that Mr Mitchell's impugned Charge of riotous Conduct was misfounded, and injustifiable. We addressed His Excellency direct, because Mr Mitchell had deponed, he prosecuted us under Government instructions, therefore craving reference to an appeal to His Excellency the Acting Governor.
