They are to perform such other duties as may be required by the master or his representative. They have consented to accept similar terms to those agreed upon with William Engine man; viz: £225 for the first year dating from arrival in the Colony, £247.10.0 for the second year, £270.0.0 for the third year, £292.10.0 for the fourth year, £315.0.0 for the fifth year, £337.10.0 for the sixth and subsequent years, free quarters to be provided in the vicinity of the Establishment; free passages for themselves and families out and home, excepting in the event of dismissal for misconduct. Half salary to be allowed during the outward voyage and full salary to the date of landing in Great Britain if sent home before the expiration of ten years, when it is presumed they would come under the provisions of the Hong Kong pension enactment.
In each case, an advance of Twenty-five pounds will be necessary, and as the Vessel will sail in about a fortnight, in the event of these persons being accepted, I would suggest that instructions be given to the Agents to provide them with as little delay as possible.
It is further desirable that each person should give an undertaking to provide the necessary bedding.
