I Humbly beg leave to submit the following to your kind Consideration = Having had a son, Namely, John Walls late of H.Majesty's 44th Reg of Foot. He served in the 44th Reg. for in or about 17 years. And on leaving that Corps, he Joined the Police at Hong Cong China and Continued with them for some time Under Captain Quirin Superintendents of Police.
He wrote to Captain Quinn Concerning my son - And he stated that the bad sorrowful news for His Disconsolate Father & mother, he being the Only child we had and good to us he was while living - But Quinn states to us in his letter that he, John Walls Our son, Died at Hong Kong China on the 5th Day of April 1865. And there was a balance of $182.55 his outstanding pay. And also the Medals Gained by him during his Military Service. And if Required at Ifin, I shall send Captain Quinn's letter to vouche for the Accuracy of My Statement. Most Humbly Hoping And Begging that your Honour will favour Me with an Answer, as we are a most Disconsolate Father & Mother Old.
