Shave the honor to report, for the information of His Grace The Duke of Newcastle, that I have this day carefully examined M. G. Faunders, Clerk and Sexton of Hong Kong. He states that he has resided in China seven years, and held his former office for four years.

His first disease was a severe tropical debility; but it does not appear to have left any ill consequences. About two years ago Mr. Saunders suffered from sun-stroke, & ever since then his health has been indifferent; the least exposure to the sun causing severe headache and vomiting.
