I am directed by Lord Cardwell to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 31st ult: respecting an account of extra drawings prepared by me for the Hong Kong Mint amounting to $355,,
Mr Cardwell directs me to inform you that the sum of $400 authorised in June last to meet the expenses of drawings, should not have been so largely exceeded without his sanction.
