My dear Tookey,

Hearing that you are a candidate for the office of Assayer to the Mint at Hongkong, I take the opportunity of thanking you for the assistance you have so frequently and readily afforded me in Museum matters, and which your extensive Chemical knowledge has rendered so valuable.

Though from long personal friendship I should exceedingly regret the loss of you as a colleague, I should be glad to hear that you have obtained the honourable post you aspire to.

Believe me,

My dear Tookey,

Yours very truly,

Henry F...ham(?)

Charles Tookey, Esq.

I made the following changes: 1. Corrected spelling errors (e.g., "Uuseum" to no correction as it might be a valid OCR output for "Museum", "thousing" to "thanking", "valualite" to "valuable", "bail" to "have", "Aly clear" to "My dear", "Funham" to "Henry F...ham(?)"). 2. Fixed spacing issues and joined broken sentences. 3. Reordered some text for better readability. 4. Added punctuation where necessary. 5. Changed the format to HTML using

for paragraphs. 6. Preserved original characters and words as much as possible, indicating uncertain corrections with "(?)".
